Phengphian Laogumnerd Cuisine’s Thai cuisine inspirations
Thai cuisine is exciting and dynamic and it’s a huge inspiration for a lot of the food we make here at Phengphian Laogumnerd Cuisine. Our chefs are enthused by the vibrant colours and complex flavours that are a mainstay of the beautiful food cooked in Thailand. The main reason you will see so many elements of this type of food throughout the menu is because our head chef was born in the country. In-depth knowledge and a yearning for experimentation in cooking has lead him to infuse our dishes with a signature Thai style. Mixing the traditional with the contemporary our head chef has a mastery of the style, it influences everything that leaves the kitchen. This posting is going to explore Thailand traditional foods that have truly inspired. Read on to discover some exciting dishes and learn more about the ideas behind our menu.
Thai cooking is all about a complete, immersive experience. It is not simply about the taste of the food, it is about the smell, colour and texture- all these elements are important. This pursuit of a complete experience that gratifies all the senses is something we try and achieve here at Phengphian Laogumnerd Cuisine. Our kitchen is open and can be viewed by our dinners. This creates a positive open environment, but it additionally fills our dining room with exotic aromas. This is one way we channel the Thai spirt of immersive cooking.
Street food in Thailand is a much-loved tradition- at Phengphian Laogumnerd Cuisine we also embrace this tradition. Street food is all about delicious dishes being served in a simple and convenient way. We channel this during our lunch time events and cooking classes. Plenty of amazing street food recipes can be found on our lunch menu and if you turn up to a cooking class you’ll leave being able to make the best Som Tam you’ve ever tried. One street food essential in Thailand is Kluay Tod- it’s the perfect dessert treat. Mini deep-fried bananas, covered in coconut or sesame seeds are prepared all over the streets of Thailand. We also prepare them for you, at tableside, during some of our events – a delicious way to end any meal!
While other cuisines embrace simplicity, this cuisine looks to the complex balance of flavours. This is partly why the cuisine is so coveted worldwide as it’s not the easiest to cook. Thai chefs look to get the perfect balance between some select flavours, these are sweet, spicy, bitter and sour. A perfect balance is looked for to attain complex and delicious flavour profiles. We take elements of this style for Phengphian Laogumnerd Cuisine events. A big emphasis is put on the balancing of flavours. Come along and try some of our food for yourself at one of our events or at a fun interactive cooking class.
